Environmental accomplishments

• Our facility in Barton, AL, was awarded a Pollution Prevention Achievement Award by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management in 2004. The award recognized our plant's environmentally friendly design and operation, including its water drainage system and wastewater treatment plant, its use of low-hazard chemicals, a low level of hazardous waste generation, a chlorine-free bleaching process and use of virtually 100 percent recycled fiber.
  
  
• Our Flagstaff, AZ, facility uses reclaimed water from a nearby water treatment plant to manufacturer its high-quality tissue products, thereby reducing the mill's consumption of fresh water to one third the industry norm for paper production.
  
  
• Our Menasha, WI, facility has earned kudos for converting sludge from de-inking recycled paper into fiber-clay. Instead of being landfilled, nearly 100 percent of the sludge is channeled into constructive uses.
